About Xtreme Lash Extensions
Lash extensions have come a long way from the stick strip falsies of years past, and the quality of a properly applied set of Xtreme Lash Extensions far exceeds that of the individual cluster lashes which are a single-event accessory and are usually applied cheaply by a stylist with no professional training. Xtreme Lash Extensions are semi-permanent, synthetic extensions affixed one by one to the natural lash with a specially formulated glue. For two to four weeks, you can enjoy a set of full, luscious lashes that are so comfortable and natural looking, you won’t even notice they’re there! (You don’t have to be a celebrity or model to wear them, either; normal, everyday people love eyelash extensions, everybody from stay at home moms to doctors, police officers to business owners, and they soon decide they can’t live without them!)
Note: Many eyelash extension operators claim to have been professionally trained but in reality have only taken an internet training course or are self taught. Those operators also use poor quality or unsafe products, which not only become unattractive quickly but can in fact be dangerous to the health of your eyes. Do not be fooled by promises of “permanent” lash extensions or attachments that last two or more months as these are false promises made by salons and inexperienced operators. Please do your research carefully and don’t be afraid to ask your lash stylist any questions you need answered–a real professional will always listen to your questions and concerns and have answers for you! If you have a set of poorly applied lash extensions you would like to remove we recommend having one of our well trained professionals do so–attempting to remove them yourself is painful and can result in lash damage, lash loss, damage to the follicle, or even damage or injury to the eye itself.
The Practical Side of Lash Extensions
The extensions are applied in a meticulous procedure that takes about two hours for a full set (your first visit) and about an hour for a fill. You relax with your eyes closed while a soft pad, which is also an under eye beauty treatment, is applied under your eye to hold your bottom lashes down. This is a painless, non-invasive procedure, and many clients become so relaxed they fall asleep! Your lash stylist will isolate each individual lash and attach the extension to the side of the lash; neither the glue nor the lash has contact with the skin. Lash extensions can’t be applied to the lower lashes. You will be asked to keep your eyes closed during the procedure as the work is done with two sharp tweezers. The extensions are attached to the lash about 1mm from the lid, so neither the adhesive nor the extension will touch your eyelid. The glue and remover are perfectly safe and the procedure is suitable for everyone of any age, including those who wear contact lenses and glasses.
Fills are a necessary part of maintaining your new, glamorous look! Natural lashes cycle in and out, much like the hair on your head, with each natural lash lasting anywhere from 25 to 28 days. As your natural lashes grow and fall out, the extension will go with them. If you’re one of the lucky ones whose hair and nails grow quickly, your lashes will grow, shed, and renew quickly as well. Fills are usually scheduled every two to three weeks. You may have heard that lash extensions cause your natural lashes to fall out, but that is a myth; lashes with extensions are subject to the same cycle of growth and shedding as lashes without extensions.
Some things to keep in mind: Though it is perfectly safe to swim, shower and sauna with your new lashes, we recommend that you try to avoid excessive steam and high temperatures. For the first twenty four to forty eight hours following your application, DO NOT GET YOUR LASHES WET; you may schedule a shampoo and blow dry for the day of your appointment if you would like, simply let your lash stylist know. You will not need to use mascara, but if you choose to, please be certain that it’s non-waterproof and that the remover you choose is oil-free. Do not perm your new extensions, and throw out your eyelash curler; you won’t need them, and those can damage the extensions and compromise the adhesive, shortening the life of your extensions. If you’d like to wear mascara, eye liner, and eye makeup, we strongly recommend the Xtreme professional brand. We also suggest that you use the Xtreme eye makeup remover as it is specially formulated not to damage the adhesive. Finally, if you use prescription eye drops or ointments, you may notice that your lashes need filling more often as these preparations can damage the adhesive; ask your doctor or pharmacist if lash extensions are appropriate for you.
The Fun Side of Lash Extensions
Xtreme Lash Extensions give you the ability to create and maintain a variety of styles! Whether you need a look appropriate for everyday wear, long, luxurious lashes for a special event or your wedding day, or a wild, outrageous multi-colored look, your stylist has the tools, knowledge, training, and experience to help you!
Lengths are available from 5mm to 17mm in black and dark brown. We now offer the Super Thick lash, which has become very popular with our clients! Colored lashes are available in purple, navy, pink, red, green, blue, and many more. The colored lashes are usually used in combination with the brown or black lashes as an accent or highlight–for instance, if you have red hair, you might consider adding some red lashes to your black ones, or if you are attending a wedding where the bride has chosen pink as one of her colors, your stylist could work in a few pink lashes. If you’d like, you could have an entire set of extensions in every color of the rainbow! We also offer a selection of curls, from that just-permed lash look to over the top movie star glamorous!
What To Expect After Your New Lashes Are Applied
First and foremost, there should be NO discomfort, itching, or stinging. If any of those symptoms occur, contact your lash stylist immediately. You may be aware of the lashes in your peripheral vision, but you will get used to them very soon and will not notice them anymore. You may also believe that you are losing more lashes than usual, but you are not–remember that the extensions are much longer and thicker than your natural lashes and you are therefore more likely to notice them when they do drop off. After the first twenty four to forty eight hours, you can get your lashes wet with no fear of damage to the adhesive, so you can (and should) keep the eye area clean. However, you should take care not to scrub your eyes while washing your face, and blot your face dry rather than rubbing it with a towel. Use the lash brush your stylist will give you to brush your lashes daily as needed to maintain your luxurious lashes.
